Allotments

Laughton en le Morthen parish has two allotments sites. Both sites are in Laughton. The site off St John's Road has 26 full sized allotments and it is leased to the Parish Council by the Hatfeild Estates and the Parish Council manages this site. A full allotment is around 600 square yards but it is also possible to have half an allotment. The site on Firbeck Lane has 33 allotments with currently 23 let and it is leased to the Laughton Allotment and Garden Society by the Hatfeild estates. Allotments holders from both sites are usually members of the allotment society to which they pay an annual membership fee of £3. The society buys seed and other garden sundries, which they sell to society members at minimum profit.

St John's Road Allotments
The Parish Council sets the rents for the St John's Road allotments. These allotments have a water supply, the cost of which forms part of the annual rent.

Firbeck Lane Allotments
The Firbeck Lane site does not have a water supply. The respective allotment holders decide rents for this site annually as the rent for this site is paid direct to the owner's agent.

Committee
The committee is elected by the society members at the Annual General Meeting.

The Parish Council and the allotments society welcomes new members and as an encouragement can possibly arrange help with clearing any overgrown sites and usually waive the first year's rent of the plot.

If you are interested please fill in the form on the comments page and an officer of the society will contact you.
